Bus from the Ferry Terminal:

From the Ferry Terminal, take the S40 bus to Snug Harbor. [ schedule from MTA here]
The bus will let you off directly in front of a gate leading into Snug Harbor. Walk towards the main buildings. Make a right and walk past the small lake. Café Botanica is row house #4, across from the Botanical Gardens, next to the Chinese Scholar's Garden.

By Car:

From Brooklyn, Queens and Long Island:

Take the Verrazano Narrows Bridge to Staten Island Expressway West (I-278). Once over the bridge get off at the Richmond Road/Clove Road exit. At the third traffic light, bear right onto Clove Road . Stay on Clove Rd through 5 traffic lights. At the intersection of Clove Road , Bard Avenue and Bement Avenue , make a sharp right onto Bard Ave. Stay on Bard Avenue until it ends. (You will pass by St. Vincent 's Hospital.) Make a right onto Richmond Terrace and then a right onto Snug Harbor Road .

The entrance to Snug Harbor is on the left, through the guard gate. Park in the first lot on the left. Café Botanica is a short walk down the entrance road on the right hand side.

From Manhattan:

Take the George Washington Bridge to the NJ Turnpike. Take Exit 13 - Goethals Bridge and follow the NJ/Goethals Bridge directions.

From NJ/Goethals Bridge:

Take the Goethals Bridge to the Staten Island Expressway East (I-278) to the Clove Road/Hylan Boulevard/Richmond Road Exit. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Clove Road . Stay on Clove Rd through 6 traffic lights. At the intersection of Clove Road , Bard Avenue and Bement Avenue , make a sharp right onto Bard Ave. Stay on Bard Avenue until it ends. From NJ/Outerbridge Crossing:
